Nearly three years after partnering with Landed to buy a home, Morgan Koblick – armed with growing home equity – has graduated from her Landed partnership.
Morgan, a college and career counselor at John F. Kennedy High School in the West Contra Costa Unified School District, used our down payment program to maximize her offer and buy a home in Pinole, CA, in Dec. 2018.
Q: You partnered with Landed on a down payment to buy your home, how did you decide it was the right time to end the partnership? What things did you consider?
A: I decided to end the partnership because my house grew in value and interest rates went down. I wanted to refinance for a lower rate and buy out Landed so that I could make decisions on my own and grow my own equity.
Q: The market was competitive and moved fast when you bought, just like it is now, three years later. Do you have any tips for people hoping to buy in a similar market?
A: Stay focused and keep it moving. Don't get overly attached to any property until you sign. Otherwise you will get caught up in the emotional roller coaster. It's better to move toward your home with a sense of stability.

Q: And you said you have seen appreciation in your property value since you bought the home?
A: Yes :)
Q: Have you made any improvements to the property?
A: Yes, I got new floors and new windows. Also some new appliances, toilets, and ceiling fans. I also like to paint the walls a lot.
Q: What’s the best thing about homeownership?
A: Independence and equity.
Q: Do you recommend Landed to other essential professionals?
A: Absolutely. Working with Landed is a great experience.
Q: What are your plans going forward? Would you work with Landed again?
A: Right now, I am staying in the home but considering moving to Berkeley or Oakland and renting this property out to tenants in the future. I would definitely consider working with Landed again once I’m ready to buy a second property.
