Landed is ready: upholding our healthcare professionals

Alex Lofton | 9 Oct 2020

At Landed our purpose has been to uphold those who uphold us, guiding us as we help essential professionals build financial security near the communities that they serve. We began this critical work focused on teachers and others who work in education, and we are now taking the important step of expanding beyond education to also partner with healthcare professionals on that same journey to build financial security. This marks one step closer to fulfilling our ultimate goal of supporting all essential professionals who uphold our communities each day.

Since our founding, Landed has directly enabled 500+ education professionals to successfully purchase new homes through our down payment program and ecosystem of financial supports, in addition to supporting thousands of others on their pathways to homeownership through individualized homebuying guidance and a network of trusted agents and lenders. As we reflect on our impact thus far, we know that there are many more essential professionals across the country for whom Landed’s support could be the tool that enables them to continue serving the communities they love.

Landed is proud to partner with essential professionals across the U.S., including LaTanya Burnett in Denver and Emma Wohl in Seattle.

Every city in the U.S. depends on a strong healthcare system: whether it’s your child’s pediatrician, an EMT responding to a crisis, or a nurse caring for an ailing family member, our livelihoods depend upon committed healthcare professionals; and yet, many of these critical community members can’t afford to buy homes in the communities that they serve. Assuming a 20% down payment, residents of six of the U.S.’s major metropolitan areas would need to put down more than $100,000 in order to purchase the median home in their city; this makes saving enough money for a home a decades long struggle for nurses, therapists, technicians, and others who graduate from degree and certificate programs saddled with student debt. Despite earning a decent salary, these healthcare professionals in high-rent regions across the U.S. face obstacles to putting down roots in the very communities that they uphold. Alongside Landed’s down payment program to overcome these financial obstacles, our team is committed to partnering with essential professionals, understanding their unique needs, and supporting them throughout their homebuying journeys.

Nurses, physicians, social workers, and a broad range of other medical, operational, and administrative staff are the backbone of the U.S. healthcare system, working on the frontlines and providing critical care each day so that each of us has the opportunity to live healthy and fulfilling lives. I’m grateful for the opportunity and privilege that our team has to support the healthcare professionals on whom we are relying now more than ever.

Over the coming weeks and months, we look forward to sharing exciting updates as Landed launches new partnerships with hospitals and other healthcare systems to add to the already meaningful work we get to do in support of educators of all sorts. If you are interested in bringing Landed’s down payment program and other services to a healthcare system that you’re associated with, please contact us. Onward!
