Landed Launches in Boston

Lauren Guite | 10 Mar 2020

Back in November, Landed launched in Washington, DC, which was our first East Coast region. We were excited to partner with DC given its high cost of living and teacher retention challenge, as well as the personal connection that many members of the Landed team have to the nation’s capital. We are proud to announce that Landed is now expanding to serve the Boston metro area, which is our second region on the East Coast.

Boston holds a special place in my heart - I lived there for a brief, but impactful year while completing my master’s degree at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Prior to that, I had spent four years as an elementary school teacher, and went to graduate school to explore other ways to make an impact in the education sector. It was a point of significant personal and professional change for me, and my advisor, Dr. Irvin Scott, was invaluable in coaching me through this period of transition.

When Landed was considering launching in Boston, Dr. Scott immediately popped into my mind as someone who would be a great champion for our efforts. Previously Chief Academic Officer for Boston Public Schools, Dr. Scott is a lifelong educator who is deeply rooted in the Greater Boston education community. When I reached out to him explaining a bit about Landed and the down payment program, he responded immediately, saying “We need to talk SOON!! This is such a need in the Metro Boston area!” Landed is immensely grateful to Dr. Scott for being the initial connection point to our school district partners in the Boston area.

“This is an opportunity for teachers to experience another level of community in the systems that they work in. And just as important, is the fact that these professionals are able to participate in the American dream as they become homeowners.” - Dr. Irvin Scott, Harvard Graduate School of Education

Landed offers a variety of resources for educators who are interested in homeownership. While Landed is most well-known for its down payment program, we also offer a network of educator-focused real estate agents and homebuyer education resources to guide you through the programs and paths you could use along your homebuying journey whether now or  in the future when you’re ready to purchase a home.

If you’re looking to explore homeownership in the Greater Boston area, our team is looking forward to speaking with you! Register for one of our upcoming informational sessions by visiting www.landed.com/boston, or complete your brief online application here
