Landed Launches with the University of Utah

Saige Clawson | 10 Sep 2021

Landed is proud to share that we have recently launched our partnership with the University of Utah, which further expands our services to homebuyers in the State of Utah. Both Landed’s and the University of Utah’s missions have a key element in common, which is a commitment to innovation, which extends to innovations in housing affordability. Landed’s mission is to help essential professionals build wealth through homeownership, which is done primarily through our down payment assistance program.

However, this is not the first time Landed has collaborated with the University of Utah. In 2019, Landed was recognized as a winner of the inaugural Ivory Prize, an initiative spearheaded by Ivory Innovations. Ivory Innovations, housed at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah, brings together top changemakers in the housing industry through a diverse set of community focused initiatives such as the Ivory Prize.

Landed homebuying support for university employees comes at a point when many Utahans are feeling the pressure of an increasingly competitive real estate market along the Wasatch Front. As the median home price in Salt Lake County has risen to $550,000 in 2021 (and continues to trend upwards), hopeful buyers are struggling to purchase a home amid a lack of inventory, bidding wars, and of course the ever present struggle of saving up for a down payment.

Our innovative programs directly address housing affordability issues that essential workers not only in Utah face, but across the entire nation. Through our down payment program, we are able to invest alongside essential professional’s to help them buy homes in the expensive communities they serve. Each Landed homebuyer is also connected with a team of professionals that provide guidance and resources that are all geared towards helping them make a safe and smart investment in their home.

As a Utah native and former student collaborator at Ivory Innovations, Landed’s launch at the University of Utah is very personal to me. My work at Landed is fueled by my passion for innovation and housing affordability issues, which stems from my prior work. This passion is shared by countless Landed colleagues who implement innovative solutions, big or small, into our daily work and mission of upholding those who uphold us.

When Landed first began partnering with Ivory Innovations in 2019, this was only the beginning of our use of innovative ideas to directly help essential professionals purchase homes. At the time, we had helped 150 individuals and families buy homes. Since then, our team has succeeded in helping over 800 educators, healthcare workers, and government employees purchase a home. I am confident that Landed’s robust and proven relationship with the University of Utah will bring unparalleled value to employees who use our program.

We are excited to engage in conversations with University of Utah employees who are at any stage of the homebuying process. Whether you are ready to buy right now or in a couple years, you’re a first time homebuyer or not, or are just curious about how we can help you-- talk to us!
