NYC Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) partners with community-based service providers in New York City who help people prepare and apply for Housing Connect affordable housing lotteries. Housing Ambassadors can provide information and assistance with the application process.
Neighborhood Housing Services of Jamaica, Inc., (NHSJ) is a 42 year old non-profit organization committed to preserving, protecting, and revitalizing neighborhoods, through increasing: homeownership, community development and investment in southern Queens. This is accomplished by offering housing education, counseling and financial services to low-to-moderate income residents thus allowing people access to sustainable, affordable housing in southern Queens.
The HomeFirst Down Payment Assistance Program provides qualified homebuyers with up to $40,000 toward the down payment or closing costs on a 1-4 family home, a condominium, or a cooperative in one of the five boroughs of New York City.
SONYMA’s low interest rate program offers lower down payment requirements and competitive interest rates to qualified buyers. This program allows for the purchase of 1-4 family homes, condominiums, cooperatives, and manufactured homes
The Housing Support Program is aimed at attracting experienced, certified talent in critical nationwide shortage areas-specifically, math, science and special education at the secondary levels-to teach in New York City. Fully certified teachers in these shortage areas who have taught a minimum of two years in the shortage area - either in their previous careers or currently - will be eligible to participate (the DOE may elect to reduce the eligibility standard to one year of teaching experience). Successful applicants will receive housing support of approximately $15,000 over two years in return for a three-year service commitment to teach in a high need school.
Nassau County will provide eligible first-time homebuyers with up to $25,000 towards down payment/closing costs towards the purchase of an eligible new or existing single family home, provided that the applicant puts a minimum down payment of at least $5,000.
GRB and the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (FHLBNY) work together to provide down payment assistance to qualified first-time homebuyers. The Homebuyer Dream ProgramTM provides grants of up to $10,500 towards the purchase of a home in New York.
Provides qualified first time homebuyers with down payment assistance funds in the form of zero-interest deferred loans that are forgiven after 5 years. The assistance provided will be up to 14,000 for eligible applicants to assist with the down payment toward the purchase of an owner-occupied, single family residence in communities served by the Suffolk County HOME Consortium. This program does not fund closing costs. The applicant will be required to sign a Note & Mortgage which is subordinate to the bank or lending institution that will be providing the primary mortgage. Applications for the calendar year must be submitted by December 31st.

The assistance provided will be up to $14,000 for eligible applicants to assist with the down payment toward the purchase of an owner occupied, single family residence.
